Sustainability

Why this matters to us

"Before albor was a company, sustainability was ten years of research for me — a PhD spent inside the companies that get called 'sustainability frontrunners,' studying the gap between what brands say and what they actually do. I've read enough sustainability reports to know that most of them measure the wrong thing: how a company spends its money, not how it makes it. So we built albor on a different premise: sustainability isn't a claim we make about our clothes — it's the standard we want our daughter's generation to inherit."

Responsibility belongs inside the business

Not a badge. A way of deciding.

For us, sustainability is not a badge, a separate project or something added after a product has been made. It concerns how we create the clothes we sell: what we design, which materials we select, whom we work with, how a garment is intended to be used and how honestly we communicate these decisions.

Albor is at the beginning of this process. We do not claim perfection. We make considered choices, verify them wherever possible and remain transparent about what we are still working to improve.

Built to move, made to last.

Children need clothes that allow them to move, explore and grow without unnecessary restriction. This principle guides every Albor design.

Our generous silhouettes and multi-age sizing are intended to remain useful as children grow. Gender-neutral forms and colours also make pieces easier to share between siblings, friends and families.

We design for repeated wear and passing on. That confidence starts at the fabric: we chose our organic cotton and manufacturing partner specifically because they meet quality standards used by some of the most demanding names in sustainable fashion. We're now building our own wear and wash testing on top of that foundation, so we can show — not just say — how each piece holds up.

Set before the first sample was cut.

Before producing our first collection, we established clear requirements: documented organic-cotton fabrics, a manufacturing partner operating within a valid GOTS-certified system, and relevant production processes managed within that system.

We worked directly with the manufacturing team throughout product development and production. In July 2026, we visited the facility as a family, our three-year-old daughter with us, to see the fabrics, construction, measurements, finishing and quality of our first collection for ourselves. That's the standard we hold every partner to: one we're genuinely comfortable bringing our own child into. The formal certification evidence is provided separately through the original documents below.

Progress, in specific and verifiable actions.

Sustainability is not a completed claim. It is an ongoing way of making decisions, checking their consequences and improving what we can.

  • Albor certification

Preparing to begin the certification process with Control Union in Spain so Albor can become certified as a brand and trader for a future collection.

  • Wear and wash evidence

Documenting how our materials, colours, seams and shapes perform through repeated wear and washing

  • Care and continued use

Developing practical guidance to help families care for, repair where possible and pass Albor garments on.

  • More complete impact information

Establishing indicators for materials, production, packaging, transport and product longevity as we grow. Results shared only with sufficient evidence.

  • Transparent progress updates

Publishing short updates explaining what has changed, what has been achieved and what remains unresolved.

Questions from families

What parents actually ask.

What is GOTS?

The Global Organic Textile Standard—GOTS—is a textile processing standard for organic fibres. It includes requirements concerning certified fibre content, textile processing, chemical inputs, environmental management, traceability and social criteria. Compliance is verified through annual on-site audits by approved independent certification bodies.

What is a GOTS Scope Certificate?

A Scope Certificate identifies the company, facility, activities and product categories covered by its certification during a defined period. Our manufacturing partner holds a valid Scope Certificate covering relevant manufacturing and trading activities.

A Scope Certificate does not mean that every product made at a certified facility is automatically GOTS-certified. It confirms the certified system and activities within which eligible products can be processed.

What is a Transaction Certificate?

A Transaction Certificate relates to identified certified goods transferred between named certified operators. It records information such as the seller and buyer, the certified material, fibre composition, fabric type, quantity, and shipment or transaction details. Our Transaction Certificates document the principal fabrics supplied to our manufacturing partner for the first Albor collection.

Is Albor GOTS-certified?

Albor does not yet hold its own GOTS certification as a brand and trader. We therefore do not use the GOTS logo as an Albor product badge or describe Albor's finished garments as GOTS-certified. This is a distinction concerning Albor's formal certification status — not the standards we required when developing our first collection.

From the beginning, we selected documented organic-cotton fabrics and a manufacturing partner operating within a valid GOTS-certified system. For our next collection, we are preparing to begin Albor's own certification process as a brand and trader with Control Union in Spain.

We'll keep documenting as we go.

We want families to understand not only what Albor creates, but how and why we create it. We will continue to document our choices, communicate their limits and improve one concrete step at a time.
